Privacy

Polycule Maker is built so your map stays with you. Here's what that means in practice.

Your map stays in your browser

Everything on a map, the names, pronouns, connections and colors, stays in your browser. There are no accounts, and we have no server that stores maps. We couldn't see your map even if we wanted to.

Saving

Your browser keeps a copy of your map, so it's still there when you come back. That copy lives only on your device, in your browser's storage for this site. It isn't a cookie, and it's never sent anywhere.

To remove it, use Clear map in the editor, or clear this site's data in your browser settings. In a private browsing window, it's gone once you close the window.

Share links

A share link holds your whole map, in the part of the address after the #. Browsers don't send that part to any server, so the map only goes to the people you send the link to. It never reaches us.

That's also why links get longer as a map grows: the link is the map. Anyone who has it can open the map and make their own copy, so send it to people you'd show the map to.

Images

When you share or download an image of your map, it's made in your browser and goes straight to wherever you send it.

Analytics

We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and doesn't follow you around the web. It sees which page you visited, which site sent you, what kind of browser and device you use, roughly which country you're in, and how quickly the page loaded.

It never sees your map. It reports a page's address without the part after the #, and we've checked that its script leaves that part out.

Apart from that analytics script, the site loads nothing from anyone else: no outside fonts, ads, trackers or embeds.

Before you share

A map shows real people and their relationships. Before you send one, check that everyone on it is happy to be shown to whoever you send it to. If someone would rather not be named, a nickname or initials work too.
